Clean restroom and tentalow. Right next to beach and great snorkeling place. In general it is well managed and we had a great time here. The few things worth noting is the tentelow does get moving back and forth in windy night. We put our luggage right on the bottom to fix it. At night it gets very dark and you would need a headlight to navigate safely.
All 35 camp sites are right on top of each other. Frustratingly, some are as small as 15x10 feet and surrounded by other campers while some are 25x20 with a view of the beach, not that you can tell that by the website. Sites are divided by piles of rotting wood.
Few very small things - you definitely need a head torch. It might be nice to have some small solar panel lights guiding the paths into the camping area. I nearly walked into other people's tents on a few occasions. And, it would be lovely if free WiFi was added (particularly given the price of the spots).
We loved our stay at Camp Olowalu - the facilities were really good (it was cool to have roofless showers!!!) with lots of toilets, some places to charge devices, and nice picnic tables at every spot. It is relatively expensive ($40 for two people) but actually compared to other options on Maui (c. $90 for two people in a hostel) it's a pretty good deal!
Nice campground with clean bathrooms and showers. Sites are a little too close to each other otherwise I'd give them 5 stars.
No organization what so ever and no on call staff and checkin has limited hours, so plenty of fun figuring out conflicts with fellow campers.
It's a very pretty and very well maintained campground. The campground is very near the water with kayak rentals available. The staff are very cool. I wish that all of the camping spots had a.little bit more privacy.
Management was very rude to me. I was having trouble booking a specific site online, so I called and was told you just see what’s available when you arrive. Upon arrival I was arbitrarily assigned one of the worst sites and told I was mistaken about my call. I now realize that management had intentionally over booked and lied to make sure I would come.
The beach isn't as spectacular as some in Hawaii but it's great to have the water so close. The cockerels gave it an authentic 'country' feel at 5am ;) and we loved all the little chicks everywhere!
Also just one small campfire spot for all campers besides the ones for tentalows.
There are only 4 showers and 4 toilets between all 35 campsites and who knows how many car campers. Only one of the toilets had a working light although lights for stairs, they were broken.Hot water broken for two days while we were here and management could care less.
Sure it’s cheap compared to a hotel but you’re getting next to nothing, but nothing with a rude attitude
