My bestie had been here before and raved about it, so we decided to go for our last night in Maui dinner. First off, LOVED you could make reservations. This place is RIGHT on the water, and is almost like a converted house with deck -- so the seating is limited. If you want an outdoor table, make reservations. We were seated right next to the edge at a comfortable table for 4. While there is a very casual vibe here, it is infused with elegance.
Amazing views, great service, delicious food and drinks. Bloody Mary was awesome. We had the pineapple boat, avocado toast, fish of the day sandwich, and French toast. Everything was fantastic! Our waitress was attentive and friendly.
Service was on point all night which made the experience that much better.
We would not recommend this place to anyone. Unless of course you enjoy poor or no service¹.
Mama Ocean Tavern is one of our favorite Maui restaurants. The view alone, makes it worth a visit, but fortunately, this restaurant has delicious food and a variety of cocktails and wine to please even the most discerning diner. I love the fresh fish special, and my husband loves the Kobe burger. For the perfect ending, the macarons can't be beat. Parking is tight, but the valet service is the perfect answer.
We were in plain sight of them too. After waiting at the least 20 minutes, we got up and walked out. On the way out one of the staff thanked us for dining with them. What a joke.
let me say, this restaurant was atrocious. the wine i had was supposed to be 40$$ but instead they charged me 360$ without any warning at all! there were multiple times my feet were splashed with water. as a foot model, i found that offensive and uncalled for. we promptly left 1000$ on the table and left. never again will i eat at a restaurant where CARLOS is the server.
It was our first day in Maui. We were excited to try something local. We were given a very nice welcome when we arrived. That is why they are getting 1 star. We were a party of 4, and seated at an oceanside, indoors table. We were given our water & a menu. Nothing else. Ever. We were totally ignored by all the staff.
Food was fantastic. They start you off with chips and salsa which is a nice touch. We ordered the Brussels Sprouts appetizer which was incredible. I feel as though I could have eaten a giant bowl of them. All of us ordered the Kobe Burger. We had to, we are burger fiends. WOW. Nothing better than a fresh top notch burger! The fries were really good as well. To cap off our gluttony, we did the 'pot of butterscotch' -- not really called that, and not really a pot but boy was it creamy and delicious.
