My husband and I came here after the Feast at Lele cancelled on us twice. It ended up being a really nice luau and I'm glad we went to this one. We did the VIP ticket which I would recommend for the slightly higher price. You get let in before the general admission so it gives you time to get a drink, explore the grounds, take some pictures, and find your table before it gets crowded. It's located along the coast so you can enjoy a hopefully beautiful sunset to the west. The food was good but I wouldn't call it all stand out. I really enjoyed the pork, fish, and sweet potatoes. There is a wide selection in The buffet and I would recommend trying a little bit of everything that interests you. The drinks weren't the best I've had but it's an open bar so I can't complain too much. VIP tickets allow you to be first in line for the food and you get a special, shorter bar line. They keep the food lines moving pretty well so even if you're not VIP ticket it didn't seem like you had to wait too long. The show was excellent. The MC did a great job. They do a good job of filling the down time between dances to keep the audience engaged. The dire dancing part was fantastic! All in all a very standard luau worth checking out. And it's especially convenient if you stay at the Royal Lahaina because you can just walk home.
Do not think you're missing out if this was full or you don't have time. Lame af!
But it feels like they have been acting on the feedback. We maybe queued for about 5 minutes to register - and as soon as the queue started getting longer they brought out extra staff.
They called up the tables logically to the buffet so again there was maybe a two minute queue. They brought drinks round all the time so there was no real need to go to the bar (but most of the time that was queueless too!).
So! The logistics of it all were much better than expected. BUT, we were left with a very sour taste in our mouths being asked to pay $5 to park. After spending $200 on tickets it just seemed a little petty and money-grabbing.
They seat you according to an assigned number. You get put at lunch style tables. You can grab a drink from the bar at this point. The bar tender was great.
We bought a necklace for our daughter from a vendor after the show for $20. The lady selling them told us that she handmade it herself, which is why we bought it. We wanted something authentic and handmade from Hawaii and wanted to support a small business. We saw all the same exact necklaces at a store in old town Lehaina for $3.99 so she is obviously buying them cheap from the store and then selling them for more and lying to people saying she made them. I called the show to see who I could talk to about it and was transferred to a voicemail, the lady who transferred me didn’t seem to care much. Luckily we didn’t spend more than $20 there but still disappointed that we got scammed like that, especially since we spent close to $300 for tickets.
The actual show was great - and we really liked the Christmas twist. All in all, it was a great experience as part of our Maui trip.
Admittedly there were only two ladies toilets, but there were also lots of signs where there were alternative facilities.
Overall, this is worth about 50 bucks.
Luau show was great, but seating was crowded (almost as if over-sold). Would rather have paid and extra $5-10 per ticket and had fewer people and a more intimate setting. Also wish you could buy reserved seats.
They give a small plate of pineapple for half a table to share. Then you wait to get called for food. Food was okay but nothing great. It's just standard catered food.
So, given some of the reviews of this (which I only read after I booked it), I was a little bit nervous about what we would encounter!
You get there, you check in, stand in line, get a picture taken, and then stand in line for until about ten till six. No point in getting there at 530 because you just stand there. It was cloudy but if was sunny bring an umbrella for shade.
The seats weren't close together at all - we had more than enough room!
Lines for bathrooms were too long. Basically two women's stalls for 100+ people. They weren't maintained through the night.
