Sorry to the staff for the poor review. Again... they were great
Never done a review on a place I have ate before but felt a need here.
The problem I had was 100 percent with the sushi. It was piss poor. Some of the worst I have ever had. You get better sushi in the grocery store. I was told it was the best sushi on the island by someone promoting the place. It was not.
First of all the wait staff was great. No complaints there. Super friendly, very quick with the food.
This place was absolutely amazing! My boyfriend and I are gluten free and they definitely know their stuff. Their gluten free menu was very large and the staff was knowledgeable. Our waiter, Terry, was an absolute joy to have around and was the perfect picture of customer service. Very impressed with this place, highly recommended for anyone seeking fresh sushi!
Advice to management-fire all your hostess stand employees. I'd happily rate you a 5 if it weren't for them. They were rude both on the phone and especially in person. They made us not want to wait the 90 minutes for a table. We are so glad we overlooked them because the food and table service was phenomenal! Or server, an energetic guy who said he moved to Maui because of the meal he had at Sansei, was speedy, knowledgeable, and fun. The Best unexpected part of the evening was waiting next door at Wine and Palette- Jim made it a great time!
Was not a fan of Poke, was to bitter for my taste. Crab in a crab roll had to much crab smell, but desert the Granny Smith apple was great. The atmosphere is nice but if you into sushi which are not rolls then you will not be impressed.
Pretty good food. Very busy. Usually one can get a table if you come at 5:15 right when they start service, but otherwise you got long waits. Recommend making a reservation for start of service to ensure you have a seat. The appetizer of Maui teriyaki beef, and the "69" roll are great!
