I must say, after extensive research on many properties, we landed here even though as usual there was a mixed bag on reviews.
The room is prefect, bed is super comfortable. Friendly staff, great pool, a few feet and you're in the beautiful ocean. All in all I can't complain!! It's Hawaii at it's finest
Very nice hotel. It's a little old (50th anniversary this year) but still well maintained. The front desk guy is so warm and welcome. There is on site parking and restaurant which serves good breakfast. love the swimming pool which is clean and warm and quite. Easy access to the best beach and a walking path along the beach which leads to a large grocery where we got nice fruit and snacks.
We booked a 'premium' room, as everything we read indicated those were upgraded within the last couple of years. When we checked in they told us they had upgraded us to an 'ocean view' with a King. We were concerned at first because there were three of us and we were counting on the 2 queen set up. They assured us they would provide a roll-away bed but also went a step further to give us a key to the upgraded room (in the Dolphin building), along with another room that had 2 queens (in the tower). We went with the lovely room in the Dolphin, it was absolutely gorgeous with a lanai overlooking the pool area. Okay it was a BIG stretch for them to call it "ocean view"... you could see a piece of the ocean if you leaned over the balcony a bit but nonetheless the view we had was peaceful and lovely. I could gush for a bit about the accommodations, if I ever came back I would try and book this exact room.
Finally Castaway Cafe serves up some pretty good grub and cocktails. It was nice having a full kitchen in our room, but even nicer to get a good meal or drink right on property.
The pool and beach - awesome. The pool is large... actually I think there are two pools on property but the one closest to us was large with a little bridge going over it towards the Castaway Cafe. There is a large hot tub/jacuzzi and a pretty large wading pool. The beach is RIGHT there... from all of the buildings. They have rentals for stuff in a little hut as well. What I loved is that there were not a ton of people on the beach and it was great for swimming. I met a guy at the Castaway outdoor bar that had walked down to our section of the beach from the Westin, as he said it was much better.
If I ever get back to Maui, I will stay here again.
We would definitely stay here again, we would stay again just for the massage from Edgar and Janice! The room was Hawaiian quaint, the grounds were beautiful. It did not feel like some concrete town resort. Very homey very comfortable. And we loved our massage!
Some family was staying here in one of the suites. It was extremely well decorated and comfortable. We enjoyed the pools and hot tubs with them and ate at the nearby Castaway Cafe several times. They had an excellent breakfast. There is wonderful snorkeling nearby and the beach was beautiful.
I am happy to say that we LOVED our stay here from start to finish. The property itself is very well kept up and each day we could see employees working hard from housekeeping to maintenance, to grounds to all of the front desk staff. Everything about the four night stay itself was wonderful and the room/apartment we were in was fantastic.
